“ADA: Evaluation of Automated Document Analyzer Using Text Mining and Aho-Corasick Algorithm” is an interesting application in the use of an Automated Document Analyzer (ADA) combined with two algorithms – Text Mining and Aho-Corsack, in rapidly organizing, searching, retrieving and segmenting of files. The authors are members of the Philippine Society of IT Educators. Teodoro F. Revano, Jr., the principal author, can be reached at tfrevanojr@yahoo.com .

In “Analyzing the Pedagogical Advantages and Disadvantages of Asynchronous Online Discussions Using a Historical Perspective”, the authors discuss Asynchronous Online Discussions (AODs) as a pedagogical aid in learning. However, while the AOD environment presents distinct features that enable it to provide pedagogical assistance, there are still hindrances to tapping the full potential of this tool. This paper attempts to determine why teachers find it difficult to use this tool. Its approach in tackling this problem was to investigate the characteristics of AODs as a communication tool from a historical perspective.

“Going to the Dark Side: Exploring and Exploiting e-Learning Security Model Effectiveness Using BackTrack4 on an Oracle VM VirtualBox” is a paper about the efficiency of an e-learning security model of Moodle through the utilization of Backtrack4, a penetration testing derivative of Ubuntu Linux. The proponent determined common penetration techniques and recommends possible best practice approaches to minimize security vulnerability of common e-learning platforms such as Moodle. Ronaldo D. Milagroso is with the College of Computer Studies and Systems of the University of the East-Manila. Email him at ron_milagroso@yahoo.com .
“Performance Analysis of Information Technology Application of Cooperative Organizations in Cavite” is a study on IT applications in the areas of informational and operational processes in selected operating cooperatives in Cavite. Among other things, results show that as informational and operational processes increase, performance analysis also increases. The study also recommends that information technology applications of cooperative organizations be utilized to fortify efficiency improvement of cooperatives, enhance staff productivity, and generate accurate information and reports. The “Tri-Fold Instructional Model: A Techonology-based Strategy for Mastery Learning in General Psychology” paper is a study which evaluated the efficiency level of the Tri-fold Instructional Model, utilizing the three key components: the CD-ROM “General Psychology” Module, as knowledge-based teaching-learning resource, the internet (on-line collaboration) and Small-Group Discussions (SGDs) as a cooperative learning strategy. As an innovative instructional tool, the holistic systems approach in utilizing the Tri-fold Model was proven efficient in enhancing mastery learning of the participating students in the study.
